There is no way for a searcher to determine if your site has information of interest to someone looking for a "leather organizer" for important papers, a "closet organizer" for a neater home, or a "wedding organizer" to orchestrate that big event. In this case, it is essential that you add a second word to clarify the meaning of "organizer" as it would apply to your site.

Another problem with single word searches is their attainability. Even if a single keyword is what you really want, you may not be able to attain a search engine ranking on it. While it would be nice to be positioned well on a single extremely broad keyword, you might better use your time to pair the keyword with something more specific. More specific keywords have the added advantage of ensuring that your prospects are more qualified. You do not want to disappoint searchers who visit your site in the search of a wedding organizer.

My Dumbest Marketing Blunder And How You Can Avoid It

When I started submitting Ezine articles, I never realized their true power. I was just happy to see the articles being published.

I expected to get some traffic and hopefully some sales. I would have laughed if you told me those early words would still be floating around the web over five years later.

Well, smack me on the wrist and call me shorty, they are. You would think that's a good thing and it is except... That's the operative word, "except." The little critters are still multiplying around the web like rabbits in heat, but there is a little problem. Actually, the problem isn't so little.

This darn problem haunts me. At least a couple of times a week it drives me insane. Whenever I run across it I feel like the dullest axe in the shed.

So what is this dumb mistake that:

  • Has me pulling my hair out by the roots

  • Has me kicking myself over and over

  • Haunts me like that house in Amityville

I'm afraid to guess how much money and traffic I'm losing. It's a nightmare. Those babies are doing their part, but crazy John has made the ultimate dumb mistake.

How did this happen? How could I end up looking like the "village idiot?"

The only answer I can give is, "I didn't realize."

A better option is to set up a page on your site to capture addresses. If you leave your present service, you can edit the page to lead to your new list.

If I had set up my links according to option number one for affiliate programs, or two for list building, I'd have kept the leads flowing and the orders coming for years.

Badly Written Articles Are No Good For Your Business

How many times have you crawled the internet, looking for information, only to find a badly written article that annoys you more than it helps you? With the increasing use of article marketing as a strategy for promoting websites and increasing visitor traffic, there has been an explosion in the number of article-based websites and the number of articles available.

In many cases, however, this rise in the quantity of available content is at the expense of quality. There are a great many articles out there that do not provide the kind of positive promotion that most webmasters are looking for. In many cases, this can be entirely due to the poor quality of the writing.

If you are writing an article to promote your business or website, you need to ensure it shows you in a positive and professional light. Badly constructed sentences and incorrect spelling are annoying to readers. They detract from the image that you wish to portray and the overall informative content of the page. Readers will know if they were written in a hurry. Mistakes in your articles tell your potential customers that you didn't check them and so that might be the service they can expect from you.

Whether this is true or not, in your case is unimportant. The impression you give when you publish a badly written article will colour the reader's view of you and your organisation. There are some simple things you can do to avoid this.

Always proofread your article.

Look at some well-known published writers for ideas around how they construct their sentences and the types of words that they use. There are lots of sites on the internet that have excellent free advice on what to look for and how to improve it. Your readers will appreciate well constructed articles and sentences. there are few things as annoying to many readers as misused punctuation.

Check your facts.

People aren't that interested in your opinion. It isn't worth any more than their own. Make sure you can back up any claims or conclusions that you make with facts. If you have the facts, and are willing to reference sources, your article will be seen to be more authoritative.

For example, if you sell rare second hand watches on the web, you want those people who search for “second hand Rolex”, or “used Patek Philippe” or “rare branded watches” to come to your website.

Optimizing your Web Page for these Keywords

So you optimize the pages with such keywords. You use these so called “keywords” in your web copy (body or text written on your webpage). There are many ways to get these words on the page.

For example – your page title could be “How to Select a Rare Branded Watch”. Then the various paragraphs on this page could have sub heading like – “Finding the Rare Branded Watch”, “How to identify a Fake Branded Watch”, “Negotiating Price for a Rare Branded Watch”, “Huge Collection of Second Hand Rolex Watches” etc.

Search Engines Find Your Goldmine

You might have noticed that the keyword “rare branded watch” has already appeared multiple times in the title, body, and description. The Search Engines think that you have a great content for the word “rare branded watch”, and move your listing much higher in the search engine results.

If you consistently and correctly do this, you have a much better chance of hitting the top pages for your keywords.

Don’t Over Do it, or you will get banned

This is just one of the techniques. Of course you can’t over do it, or else Google could punish your site and not show it at all if they think you have purposely “stuffed” your keywords in the body of your webpage, and the sentences do not make much sense. So do it carefully, and benefit from this technique, but don’t go overboard.

Other Ways to Get a High Search Engine Listing

SEO requires you to tweak so many aspects of your website – you could continue to do it for the next few months easily. And this is a key point too… continue to make changes to your site regularly. This show that your site is current, up-to-date, and not something that was setup in 1998. Of course, a current site is rewarded with a higher rank than an old site that is never updated.

Some of the other basic SEO Techniques are:

Optimizing Page Title

A page title is what is displayed in top of your browser’s window. Most websites don’t even have a page title. Others have the company name as the page title. Ideally, each page of your website should have a unique page title. It should be short, yet clearly summarize what the page is all about. Keep it within 60 to 100 characters. The Windows Title bar can’t show any longer than that anyway.

Using appropriate Meta Tags for Keywords, Description

If you have never heard of Meta Tags, do not be alarmed. These Meta tags are not meant for humans. It is more meant for search engines, so that they can assess what the site is all about. To check if your webpage has Meta tags setup, visit any page on your website, and do a View Source from your browser’s menu.

You will notice that just below the < HEAD > & < TITLE > are tags like meta name="keywords" content="Branded Watches, Second hand watches” meta name="description" content="Branded Watches Unlimited – Second hand branded Watch Store”

Many search engines use these Meta tags to show the description below your website in the search engine listings pages. The biggest Search engine who uses this kind of listing is Yahoo. Even Google uses the keywords to some extent.

Using Descriptive Headings

If you know basic HTML, using Header tags (starting from H1, H2 to H6), for your headings, sub headings gets these keywords a higher weightage in search engine rankings.

You can edit the HTML for your website using editors like Microsoft FrontPage or Dream weaver. Then add a H1 tag to your most important heading line. For sub headings, use H2, and so on.

Having a Site Map on your website

A site map is a virtual map of your website. It shows how the different pages are linked to each other. With this kind of map, it becomes much easier for the search engines to reach all pages of your site, and spider them.

There are many free tools available from the search engines that can help you make a Sitemap. Even Google offers its own Google Sitemap tool.

Making your Site Rich with Content

If you regularly add Product News, Happenings, Company News, Articles of interest, then your site becomes more lively, more interesting, and a place where your prospects may find much of the information they are looking for.

A deep, content rich site is a boon to you, which will help to get higher search engine listings with ease.

Making Navigation to inner pages easier Most sites use a Breadcrumb trail kind of navigation to aid the browser in finding information, and retracting to other branches as and when needed.

A breadcrumb trail looks like this

Home > Books > Marketing Books > Magnetic Marketing

This way, a user can navigate to any level. From “magnetic marketing” back to “Books” or Home in a single click.

Search engines love a site which makes navigation easy. You prove to them that you are thinking about your browsers, your customers, and not only yourself.

Building Inbound Links from other Directories, & Authority Sites

One of the most important aspect that can make or break your journey into the top pages of search engines is Inbound Links.

Inbound links means links to your website, coming from other websites, directories and authority sites. It is no longer about content alone. Today, there are millions of great sites that are rich with content. To compete with them, you can also build great content. But that is not sufficient.

Search engines like Google and Yahoo look at who links to you. If you have great content, an authority site, then a lot of websites, blogs must be linking to that content. If no one links to you, then Google does not give you a higher rank.

Internet Marketing - Book Profits With 6 List Building Techniques That Pay You Every Month

If you've been trying to make money on the Internet for any length of time, you've heard it a hundred times; the money is in your list. A good list can earn you about a dollar (or more) for each subscriber EVERY MONTH! If you are just starting out, you can easily generate 200 to 300 subscribers per month.

There are many methods that you can use to quickly grow your list. I've found it very effective to give new subscribers an Internet marketing book. (Internet marketing is a very large category that encompasses a number of Internet related topics.)

Using this technique, my Internet marketing book, entitled, 'Make Money Every Day' adds 300 to 400 subscribers to my list each month. When you consider that each subscriber is worth about $12 per year, the numbers can add up rather quickly.

To build your list, use a squeeze page that is designed to do one thing, get the name and email address of your visitor. You do this buy offering them something of value in exchange for their contact information. It can be a free Internet marketing book, or ebook, a subscription to your newsletter, or anything else your visitors may be interested in. The important thing is that your giveaway item is valuable enough to entice them to sign up to receive it. Following are a number of techniques that you can use to expand your list (as well as your income).

1. Google Adwords. This is one of the fastest methods to build a targeted list. It is important to choose very targeted keywords and never bid more than you can afford. Once you have set up your ad it can begin to appear within hours and start bringing you traffic shortly thereafter.

2. Write articles. Submit articles to the large article directories. Make sure each one contains a resource box where you will include a link advertising your squeeze page and the freebie visitors will receive. This works best if you submit at least one article per day.

3. Post regularly on forums. On each of your posts, include a signature file that includes your squeeze page and the free giveaway that you are offering.

4. Classified ads. Use free and/or paid ads to entice traffic to your squeeze page.

5. Blogs. If you have a blog, add an advertisement and a sign up form to your blog.

6. Trade ads. Trade ads with other websites. You place their ad on your site and they place your ad on theirs. This ad swap is done for free of course.

Remember, in order for this to work, you must give your visitors something of value. I generate almost 400 subscriptions per month using a free Internet marketing book. Develop a give away that is specifically targeted to the interests of your visitors and watch your subscription rates soar.
